Overview
The course From Leaf to Litter: Shaping a Planet Beyond Tobacco’s Impacts addresses the environmental and health impacts associated with the tobacco production chain, as well as pathways toward more sustainable livelihoods.
Based on the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), the course explores key concepts, scientific evidence, and international experiences related to Articles 17 and 18, which focus on supporting economically viable alternatives to tobacco growing and protecting the environment and human health.
The course aims to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of professionals working in tobacco control and related fields, promoting integrated approaches that connect public health, environmental sustainability, and development.
Target Audience: The course is primarily intended for professionals working in governmental institutions of Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), who are engaged in tobacco control or in the implementation of related public policies in sectors such as health, environment, agriculture, rural development, economy, and finance, and who are from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), in line with WHO FCTC priorities.
