O International Course of Medical Mycology é um curso tradicionalmente organizado pela Atlas Foundation em parceria com instituições locais de saúde e pesquisa, sob a liderança do Prof. Sybren de Hoog. Normalmente ministrado em diferentes países e já realizado em instituições como a Mayo Clinic (EUA), First People’s Hospital em Jining (China) e Universidade Federal do Paraná (Curitiba, Brasil), em 2025 o curso será sediado pela primeira vez em Manaus, no Instituto Leônidas & Maria Deane – Fiocruz Amazônia em parceria com o INCT CERBC (Conservação e Exploração dos Recursos Biológicos de Coleções em Rede), International Society of Human and Animal Mycology - ISHAM, o Programa de Pós Graduação em Condições de Vida e Situações de Saúde na Amazônia - PPGVIDA e o Laboratório Diversidade Microbiana da Amazônia com Importância para a Saúde – LDMAIS.O curso tem como objetivo promover o entendimento dos fungos clinicamente relevantes, apresentando sua classificação, estratégias de dispersão, padrões de resistência antifúngica e riscos à saúde pública. O conteúdo é estruturado de acordo com o Atlas of Clinical Fungi, com aulas teóricas em inglês e atividades práticas em português (microscopia e técnicas moleculares).

The International Course of Medical Mycology is a course traditionally organized by the Atlas Foundation in partnership with local health and research institutions, under the leadership of Prof. Sybren de Hoog. Typically taught in various countries and already held at institutions such as the Mayo Clinic (USA), First People's Hospital in Jining (China), and the Federal University of Paraná (Curitiba, Brazil), in 2025 the course will be held for the first time in Manaus, at the Leônidas & Maria Deane Institute – Fiocruz Amazônia in partnership with the graduate Program in Living Conditions and Health Situations in the Amazon - PPGVIDA and the Amazon Microbial Diversity Laboratory with Importance for Health – LDMAIS.
The course aims to promote the understanding of clinically relevant fungi, presenting their classification, dispersal strategies, antifungal resistance patterns, and public health risks. The content is structured according to the Atlas of Clinical Fungi, with theoretical classes in English and practical activities in Portuguese (microscopy and molecular techniques).
